The American Friends of the Georgian Group fosters the appreciation and preservation of architecture, art, and design from the reigns of George I to George IV in England.

The American Friends of the Georgian Group supports the work of the Georgian Group in England and the two groups endeavor to expand knowledge and promote public awareness of all aspects of Georgian design.

The Georgian Group, founded in 1937, is the British national charity for the protection of Georgian buildings, townscapes, monuments, parks, and gardens. It has a statutory role in advising English and Welsh planning authorities on proposals to alter or demolish listed Georgian buildings.

In the United States, the American Friends of the Georgian Group makes grants to support research, analysis, and restoration of historically important architectural sites. The group's main purpose, however, is its support of the work of the Georgian Group in England.

The American Friends of the Georgian Group has made significant contributions to the restoration of the Georgian Group headquarters, designed by Robert Adam, in Fitzroy Square and to support case workers, who monitor and report on the condition of Georgian buildings throughout England and Wales.

American Friends of the Georgian Group members receive The Georgian, the magazine published three times a year by the Georgian Group in England that covers the group's activities as well as current research and preservation efforts.
